Summer Program Coordinator

Leduc Public Library requires one creative and enthusiastic student to organize and deliver this year’s Summer Learning & Reading Challenge Program.  The position requires excellent communication and organizational skills and a passion to deliver programs, in person and online, that encourage pre-school and school-aged children to celebrate the wonders of literacy and learning.

This temporary full-time position runs May through August 2021 for 15 weeks, 35 hours per week, and reports to the Youth Services Coordinator.  The bulk of the work will take place during the day Monday through Friday; however, some evening shifts may be required.  

Experience working with children and strong knowledge of children’s literature, social media and marketing will be a definite asset as is enrollment in a MLIS, Library Technician, or post-secondary Education program. The successful candidate must be willing to provide a vulnerable sector & criminal record check as part of the hiring process.

Salary: $17.00 per hour

Duties:

  • Creation and delivery of age appropriate program activities for 3-12 years of age in multiple formats
  • Coordinate performers and guests
  • Promotion of the programs
  • Supervision and coordination of any teen volunteers
  • End of summer evaluation of all programs and activities
  • Ability to lift at least 50 lbs.
