Summer Learning Challenge Kick-off Drop-in

Drop-in for a lively family event to help kick off our popular 2022 Summer Learning Challenge! Get your picture taken with the Ice Queen and a Super Hero, face painting, treats and more! Pick up your reading log/game and learn how to take part in our reading program where all ages can win fabulous prizes all summer long.

Summer Learning Challenge: Drop-in, Explore & Create - July 4th - August 19th
Come as a family and bring your friends to our Alexandra Program Room where you can immerse yourself in a world of stories - it is new each week! Set off on your exploration through stations that will invite you to participate in themed STEM activities, crafts and more! For your convenience, the stations will remain the same throughout the weekly theme. It will take approximately 1 hour to complete; please attend when it is most convenient for you. We will also have ballots to give out to children who attend drop in to be entered into this summer’s grand prize!

Children under 5 must be within arm’s reach of an adult. Parents with children under 8 must remain in the library.

July 4 - 8 Castles, Crowns and Catapults, Oh My!
Calling all princesses and princes, knights, and court jesters to the Royal Court of the Library. This week we will explore all aspects of the medieval time period.
July 11 - 15  Saving the World, One Comic Book at a Time 
Caped crusaders, web slingers and comic book heroes have taken over the library! Join them in their fight against bad guys with some fun superhero activities.
July 18 - 22 In a Galaxy Far, Far Away
Drop by the library as we blast off into a mysterious territory: outer space! Venture with us into the galactic unknown as we investigate asteroids, constellations, planets and more.
July 25 - 29  When You Wish Upon a Star
Join us while we explore the most magical stories on earth: Disney! 
August 2 - 5  Happily Ever After
Come by the library as we take a look at some of the world’s oldest and most well known fairy tales! Climb the beanstalk with Jack, help Little Bo Peep find her sheep, build a strong house with the Three Little Pigs and so much more! 
August 8 - 12  Gather Around the Campfire
Cozy up in the library while we explore all things camping! This week we will explore all that the Great White North’s outdoors has to offer.
August 15 - 19  Abracadabra…Alakazam!
Come to the library for a final week full of wand making, potions, tricks and all things magic! 

Summer Reading Challenge  Drop-in

Keep track of how many hours you have read this summer, and you will have your name placed in a draw for both weekly and grand prizes!
Preschoolers are also encouraged to read! Keep track of how much you read together so that they can be entered to win prizes too!

Sidewalk Chalk Obstacle Course Drop-in
Every time you stop by the library, enjoy the warm summer weather with our outdoor obstacle course made of chalk! 
Located on the sidewalk in front of the library.

Self-Directed Fridays Drop-in

Kindergarten to grade 1
Each Friday children will have an I spy activity, where the children will search for educational themes such as colours, letters, numbers and shapes.

Each Friday there will be a new activity for children to engage in. Activities could be scavenger hunts, games, craft activities and more!

Hide and Seek with your Dragon Friends: Sparkles, Gem and Glimmer Drop-in
Our Dragons like to spend time hiding around the library, but most of all, they enjoy listening to stories! 

Come and search the library for them, read to them, and write down the secret code that your dragon friends carry with them. 

Enter your ballot into a box at the front desk for a chance to win weekly prizes! You can participate in this hunt once a week, as the dragons will find a new hiding spot every Monday.
